I’m a writer, art historian, and curator interested in photography.
I’m a big fan of experimental photography. My 2024 PhD dissertation explored alternative-process and mixed-media photography through the themes of alchemy, interruption, weaving, and aftereffects. [1] The project was supported the Center for Cultural Analysis, Rutgers University (2020–21) and The Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, National Gallery of Art (2023–24). For a short overview of the work, check out my research report in The Center’s Report 44. [2]
My background is in museums and archives. I’ve curated several exhibitions at the George Eastman Museum, including Carl Chiarenza: Journey into the Unknown (2021) [3] [4] and Nandita Raman: Cinema Play House (2017–18). [5] I’ve also contributed writing and research to dozens of other exhibitions. [6] My writings have appeared in the exhibition catalog A Matter of Memory: Photography as Object in the Digital Age (2016) [7] and The Thames & Hudson Dictionary of Photography (2015) [8].
